AvRaHim is a fusion of different cultures , different languages , different beliefs & of course different kinds of music.
The name AvRaHim which is a fusion of the Hebrew name ‘Avraham’ & the Arabic name ‘Ibrahim’ refers to our common ancestor who demonstartes the common aspects of our languages, culture & beliefs.
The music of AvRaHim is a unique blend of electrifying beats & grooves with traditional middle eastern music. From 180 bpm Yemenite drill & bass to Bedouin funk then to some ecstatic desert-tribal grooves & finally relaxing & tripping with some smooth oriental trip-hop ambience.
Dance to it , Listen to it , Trip with it , Give Ear to it !
AvRaHim members Uri Pessach &
Abed El Salaam Abu-Foul come from
Jaffa , a natural Hebrew-Arab mixed city in Israel . They began jamming together more then 4 years ago.It all began when Uri Pessach was looking for that perfect Arabic sound that will give his electronic track the middle eastern feel he heard in his mind.
“A good friend of ours told me that
Abed is really into singing & suggested that we try to jam together” recalls Pessach.” Although
Abed had no musical background his beautiful & delicate voice really touched me”. This 1st musical jam gave birth to AvRaHim’s dance version to the well known Farid El Atrache song ‘Ya Habaybi Ya Ghaybin’ ( My Absent Beloved ).
Naturally another jam was set & another gem was born. Oum Kulthum’s ‘ W’ Marret El Ayam’ ( And the days have gone by ) came to life. Then followed the Yemenite traditional ‘Sar Ha Memune’ which became a 180 BPM drum & bass frenzy & many other blends & mixes began to emerge.
‘AvRaHim’ came to existence.
” We never know what direction the original melodies will lead us” says Pessach.”We’re always looking for that new creation that will come out of this traditional elements”.
All the music in this album was produced , arranged ,
programmed & mixed by Uri Pessach.
All the vocals by Abd El Salaam Abu Foul except for 'Hinach Yafa Raayati' ( Thou Art Fair My Love ) vocals by Idit Eshel & narration by Ella Baash Pessach.
Avrahim is delighted to share with you its debut musical creation & hope you’ll enjoy your trip. Now it’s time to ‘give ear’ & let the music speak !
